1.      Name, job title and length of time working for TWMA

My name is Abdelrahman Amin, I am the General Manager of TWMA Egypt and have been with TWMA for 19 years.

2.      You've been with TWMA for nearly 19 years, what has motivated you to stay with the company for such a significant part of your career?

My journey with TWMA has been incredibly rewarding. What’s kept me here all these years is the company’s dynamic and continuously evolving nature, its people-first culture, and the opportunities for continuous learning and growth. I’ve always felt a strong alignment with TWMA’s values and mission, which makes it more than just a place to work—it’s a place where I can make a real impact.

3.      Can you walk us through your career journey at TWMA?

I started in 2006 as an Offshore Engineer, and soon got promoted to Offshore Lead Engineer, before I took my first office-based position as Operations Coordinator in 2008. The later positions have given me solid operations background and enabled me to progress further and take on the responsibilities of Operations Manager and Snr. Operations Manager in 2009 and 2012, respectively. Each role helped me build a broader understanding of the business, culminating in my current position as General Manager in Egypt since 2013. It’s been a steady journey of progression, shaped by mentorship, hands-on experience, and a willingness to take on challenges.

4.      What does a typical day look like for you as General Manager in Egypt?

No two days are ever the same, which is one of the aspects I enjoy most. My day typically includes team meetings, performance reviews, client engagements, and strategic planning. I also stay closely involved in operational matters to ensure we’re delivering efficiently and safely. It’s a balance between big-picture strategy and day-to-day problem-solving.

5.      How would you describe the working culture at TWMA in Egypt, and how does it support the team’s success?

Our culture here is collaborative, accountable, and inclusive. We foster open communication, encourage ownership, and support continuous improvement. This culture empowers our teams to take initiative, learn from challenges, and deliver excellence, which ultimately drives our success.

6.      As General Manager, what are your core responsibilities, and how do they contribute to the overall success of the Egypt business unit?

My responsibilities span operations, financial performance, client relationships, compliance, and team development. I’m accountable for aligning our local strategy with TWMA’s global vision while ensuring our operations meet client expectations and regulatory standards. Every decision I make is guided by the goal of sustainable, high-quality service delivery.

7.      Looking back on your time with TWMA, what would you say has been the most memorable highlight or achievement in your career?

One standout moment was reaching 100% local workforce in Egypt in 2014. It was a milestone that showcased our ability to adapt, collaborate, and exceed expectations. Personally, it affirmed my belief in our team’s resilience and capabilities. This milestone has contributed to not only significant improvement in our financial performance, but also aided our resilience to the market changes in Egypt.

8.      Can you share details about a key project you've led or contributed to at TWMA? What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them?

I led two simultaneous offshore installations, which involved Offshore Drill Cuttings Handling Equipment, with BP and BG back in 2012. These were the first offshore installations for us to be completed in Egypt. The biggest challenge was the project management aspect, covering the technical, logistical and client-related activities involved in both installations. Through collaboration, planning, and flexibility, we were able to deliver both projects successfully and on time, and ultimately became a benchmark for future installations in Egypt.

9.      Operational performance and control are key elements of your role. How do you ensure efficiency across all operations, and what strategies do you use to identify and address areas for improvement?

Efficiency starts with clear KPIs, strong processes, and regular performance reviews. I encourage a culture of accountability and data-driven decision-making. We also conduct regular audits and feedback sessions to proactively identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies and implement corrective actions quickly. I also strongly believe that there is always room for improvement.

10. From your perspective, how does TWMA maintain strong relationships with clients in Egypt, and what role do you play in fostering these partnerships?

It comes down to trust, transparency, and delivering on our promises. I maintain regular contact with our clients to ensure we understand their evolving needs. By being responsive, providing value, and maintaining high standards, we build long-term relationships based on mutual success.

11. What is the most valuable piece of professional advice you've received, and how has it shaped your leadership style?

One piece of advice that's stuck with me is: "Listen more than you speak." It's shaped how i lead by reminding me to seek input, understand diverse perspectives, and build consensus. Leadership isn't about having all the answers - It's about empowering others and making informed decisions.

12. What's one thing people don't know about you?

One thing people don't know about me is that i'm an introvert at heart. I enjoy quiet moments and time alone, but i've learned how to push myself out of my comfort zone when it's needed.
