1.    Name, job title and length of time working for TWMA.

Susan Kensett, Operations Coordinator, who has been part of TWMA for an incredible 22 years at our Peterhead site.

2.     What is your background/career history prior to joining TWMA?

I joined TWMA straight from school. Before that, I worked as a waitress at a hotel. At the time, I wasn’t sure what career path I wanted to take. I had even considered doing a hotel management course. Then, my dad spotted a job opportunity at TWMA, I went for the interview, and the rest is history!

3.     What does a typical working day look like for you?

Busy and varied! I spend a lot of time coordinating with colleagues and clients, making sure everything runs smoothly. My role includes managing the booking system, updating skip trackers, arranging skips for clients, keeping on top of lifting certificates and cargo summaries, and handling weighbridge duties for skips and tankers. There’s also plenty of paperwork involved, and of course, a fair bit of chatting with the team to keep spirits high!

4.     What’s it like to work for TWMA in Peterhead?

It’s amazing, I genuinely love the people I work with. Everyone looks out for each other.

5.     What are your key responsibilities at TWMA?

As well as my day-to-day duties, I like to think one of my key responsibilities is keeping morale high. I’m always happy to help with extra tasks where needed, and I try to bring a positive, upbeat attitude to work every day.

6.     As TWMA’s longest serving employee, what would you say has been your highlight of working here?

There have been so many! One standout was taking part in the glycol change-out at St Fergus, which involved working both day and night shifts and even sampling in the lab. I was honoured to receive a recognition award from the client for my contribution to that project. Another highlight of working so long would be the people that I work with, we are such a close work family who all help each other. I have seen many changes/ site upgrades thought the years which have been huge and so much more beneficial for the company.

7.       What is the best piece of advice you’ve received in your career?

Never be afraid to ask for help, there’s always someone willing to support you and share their knowledge. And of course, always arrive at work with a smile on your face!

8.     Can you share a fun fact about yourself or a secret talent?

I’ve been called a “professional yapper” I’m always up for a chat and a laugh!
