Specialist drilling waste management company, TWMA, has been shortlisted for the Driving Sustainability Award at the 2025 Northern Star Business Awards.

This award recognises businesses that have excelled in advancing sustainable practices and made a significant impact in reducing environmental footprints. TWMA has received this nomination for its innovative low-carbon drilling waste management solutions that are driving sustainability across the international energy industry.

At the core of TWMA’s success is its RotoMill® technology, an innovative thermal treatment technology that enables the processing, recycling, and safe disposal of drill cuttings directly at the wellsite. By eliminating the need to transport drilling waste onshore, RotoMill has been proven to reduce carbon emissions by up to 50%, while also enhancing safety by minimising lifting operations.

Sandy Wood, Global Business Development Manager at TWMA, said: “Our shortlisting for the Driving Sustainability Award highlights TWMA’s commitment to enabling the energy industry’s transition to more sustainable operations. By investing in innovation and putting sustainability at the heart of what we do, we’re helping operators achieve their environmental goals without compromising on efficiency or safety. We’re honoured to be recognised for the positive impact we’re delivering to our clients and the wider industry.”

In February 2024, TWMA secured a $62.5 million Sustainability Linked Bond on the Nordic ABM in Oslo, aligning with sustainability standards. This third-party-verified achievement confirms TWMA’s compliance with International Capital Market Association principles and includes a science-based CO2 target aligned with the 1.5-degree scenario. By integrating sustainability into its core strategy, TWMA meets current regulations and anticipates future environmental standards, reinforcing its leadership in the energy sector’s transition.

The Northern Star Business Awards, organised by the Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce, celebrate the achievements of the region’s top businesses. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in Aberdeen in April 2024.

For TWMA, this nomination underscores its position as a leader in driving innovation and sustainability within the energy sector and its commitment to shaping a cleaner, more responsible future for global energy production.
