  1. Name, job title and length of time working for TWMA.

My name is Cameron, and I am a Project Engineer working in the Projects team at TWMA. I have been with the company for eight years, contributing to various engineering and operational projects that support our mission in delivering drilling waste management solutions.

  2. What is your background prior to joining TWMA and how has this supported you in your role?

Prior to joining TWMA, I have worked in the oil and gas industry for 22 years. I began my career as an apprentice at GE Oil & Gas in Engineering Design, which gave me a strong technical foundation. Later, I moved to MI Swaco, where I worked within the Projects Department. This experience was particularly valuable for transitioning into my current role at TWMA, as I manage similar types of projects—handling both technical and operational aspects. This has enhanced my ability to effectively deliver on complex projects in drilling waste management.

  3. What are your key responsibilities at TWMA, and what are some of your typical day to day tasks?

At TWMA, my key responsibilities include planning and managing key projects to ensure they are executed efficiently and to the highest standards. A typical day for me involves managing RotoMill overhauls and installations on the Hail & Ghasha (H&G) artificial islands offshore Abu Dhabi, while addressing any challenges that arise. I work closely with the UAE Projects and Technical Manager to ensure seamless project delivery. My focus is on maintaining smooth execution, driving continuous improvements, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

  4. Why did you decide to relocate to the Middle East and what is it like to work for TWMA there?

I decided to relocate to the Middle East for career growth and because it has always been my dream to move to the UAE. Working for TWMA here has been a great experience, as the region offers unique challenges and opportunities, especially in the oil and gas industry. My family loves living here, everyone is settled, and the company has been a fantastic support throughout the transition.

  5. Tell us about a recent project you’ve worked on including any challenges encountered and solutions implemented?

One of the recent projects I worked on was the RC8 RotoMill overhaul, which was the first RotoMill assigned to a new project in Abu Dhabi. A major challenge we encountered was the new equipment requirements set by a major Abu Dhabi operator. To overcome this, we implemented a new control system for the RotoMill, incorporating advanced technology to meet the company’s specifications. The project was a success, as it not only met all the company’s requirements but has also been operational for almost two years without any major issues.

  6. What has been your top highlight during your eight years at TWMA?

One of the top highlights during my eight years at TWMA has been the opportunity to work in many different regions and locations, including Saudi Arabia, the USA, the UK, Norway, and the UAE. Moving to the UAE to work on new projects and further develop myself professionally has been particularly rewarding. It’s been a great experience to contribute to TWMA’s growth in this market while expanding my own expertise.

  7. Tell us a bit about life outside of TWMA

Outside of TWMA, I have a strong passion for football and enjoy going to the gym to stay active. Travelling to new locations is also something I love, as it allows me to explore different cultures and experiences. Living in the UAE has been particularly rewarding for my family and me, as it’s given us the opportunity to immerse ourselves in a new culture and engage in various outdoor activities, from exploring the desert to enjoying the vibrant city life.

Balancing work and personal interests are important to me, so I make sure to prioritise time for my family and fitness, especially with two young kids. This balance helps me stay focused and energised. I’m also currently pursuing an MSc in Project Management, which I’m excited to complete later this year. This further education has allowed me to sharpen my skills and grow professionally, benefiting both my role at TWMA and my career goals with the company.
